The main aim of the course is to train a highly specialized group of CBRN Security Managers with specialist qualifications that can be used in a variety of crisis situations involving the risk of terrorist attacks using chemical, biological and radiological/nuclear agents.

For proper preparation of ‘CBRN security managers’ to carry out their duties and protect European society against CBRN threats, we have designed a multi-disciplinary course consisting of various educational modules, covering all aspects of CBRN-E. This course is based on a series of modular theoretical lessons and practical training sessions conducted by experts in their field. Altogether, there are seven educational modules:

  1. Management and legal aspects of CBRN-E
  2. The biological basis of CBRN
  3. Practical fieldwork training in the detection and sampling of biological materials
  4. Detection and liquidation of toxic chemical agents
  5. Radiation and nuclear defence
  6. The basis of sapper-pyrotechnic recognition
  7. Counter-terrorism

The course is composed of 46 training days (419 training hours), which include: 189 hours of lectures, 99 hours of exercises, 49 hours of laboratories and 82 hours of field training. After gaining positive results in all modules, participants will be divided into different specializations, depending on their own preferences. The choice of specialization will determine the subject of their diploma dissertation. The course is completed with theoretical and practical final exams, after which the students receive their diploma.

The biological part will be conducted at the Faculty of Biology and Environmental Protection, University of Lodz. The practical training on biological material sampling and fieldwork of in biological materials detection will be conducted by the staff of the Military Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology. The chemical and radiological modules will be held at the Military Institute of Chemistry and Radiometry. Activities related to counter-terrorism will be run by the Antiterrorist Operations Bureau of the National Police Headquarters. All training related to explosives will be conducted in Slovakia by the International Security and Emergency Management Institute in Żlina. At the Police Academy in Szczytno, training in crisis management, legal aspects of CBRN-E and collection of CBRN-E evidence will be conducted.
